Chromatographic Methods ** or ***
The essence
of chromatography is to enable a mixture of species, usually organic
compounds, to be separated. After such a separation, the various amounts
of each can be estimated. The separation can be carried out using porous
paper (similar to blotting paper) with colorimetric identification
of the species. HPLC is high-pressure liquid chromatography, which
can be used for analysis of organic additives. Ion chromatography,
as its name implies, is used to determine concentrations of simple
anions & cations.
